The village of Moldava is to be found on the mountain plateau of the Krušné Mountains – in close proximity to the border with Germany. In the past silver ore was mined where and manufacture of glass articles thrived there. During archaeological research in the Moldava vicinity five glass-works were found, which are now part of study route focussing on glass industry history in Moldava. In the mid-20th century it also was a significant centre of underground mining of barite and fluorite. Nowadays Moldava is popular recreation area. In the past the Moldava railway station used to be important transportation centre serving for transportation to the neighbouring Saxony, but due to the World War II. and deportation of German population afterwards, the station lost it purpose. Nowadays tourists come there again attracted by skiing centre and picturesque countryside.
